The Suppression of Toll like Receptors (TLR) by Insulin

Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are a class of receptors in the body that recognize foreign agents such as microbes once they have breached physical barriers such as the skin or intestinal tract mucosa. TLRs then activate immune cell responses. We would like to invite you to participate in this study to evaluate the effect of a intravenous (administered through a vein) infusion of insulin on inflammation and TLR function

The purpose of the study is to see if insulin, which controls blood sugar in the body, will have an effect on Toll like receptors (TLR). This effect will be monitored by keeping blood sugar level at a normal level

Eligibility

You are being asked to participate because you are a male, with type 2 diabetes, between the ages of 30–60 years and have low or normal testosterone levels

Reimbursement

$2100
